The Avenir Community of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, is the largest planned community development ever built in Palm Beach County, Florida. West of the Florida Turnpike and the Beeline Highway on Northlake Blvd, the Avenir Project has just broken ground and will take two decades to complete. Landstar Development in Coral Gables closed on the land purchase back in October of 2013 and is the lead developer for the entire Avenir community, consisting mostly of Avenir homes. The tract of farmland covers 7.4 square miles and was formally known as the Vavrus Ranch, owned by Charles Vavrus for decades. Originally, many more homes and estates were going to be built, however, major changes were made to protect the natural wetlands and assist in the restoration of the Florida Everglades. Over 2000 acres of the entire Avenir Community is preserved for conservation, hiking trails and recreation areas. Twelve foot wide golf cart paths will be present throughout the community so that homeowners can easily travel the community, go to the Town Center to eat/shop and even make it to the local Publix grocery store in their personal golf cart.

The Avenir Palm Beach Gardens homes are in close proximity to other major developments and golf clubs such as Ibis Country Club, the PGA National Golf Club Resort & Spa, North Palm Beach Country Club, Sand Hill Crane, Jupiter Hills and Bay Hill Estates. The Avenir Community itself will have its own Avenir Town Center with shopping, upscale restaurants, a school, a park, a city hall, fire-rescue unit and police annex. Plans also include a 300 room hotel for the community and its guests.

Italian Renaissance themed buildings in the community and all the preserves and conservation areas will make this one of the most well-known planned communities in all of South Florida.
